I agree on both points. I just watched The Force Awakens the other day and he was very amusing and that, whereas he was trying way too hard in The Last Jedi. He was trying too hard at times in TFA, but it was almost the entire movie in TLJ. I never understood this decision, especially since it takes place directly following the previous movie. She hates him in TFA and then you suddenly interested in saving his soul in TLJ? I understand what you’re saying about her trying to be forgiving, but it’s not even a week later. Plus, I always hated that about Star Wars. It’s one of my biggest complaints. I hate that they are always trying to turn and/or forgive the bad guys; at least the force sensitive ones. I think the implication is that the Mindlink meant she was feeling what he was feeling and she couldn't just see him as "that masked bad guy". Plus her frustration with Luke made her start to rethink things, and the link with Kylo made her be exposed to his anger and sense of betrayal with Luke. She was forced to unintentional empathize and try to understand Kylo's POV on things. She hated him for killing Han, but then when exposed to his mind she might have been "infected" with his feelings towards Han and why he'd want to kill him.If this WAS what was happening, the mindlink "infecting" her with Kylo's messed up emotions, they should've shown it better. We have literally not seen a single reason why he hates Han. Plus, frustrated with Luke? Ren has killed many innocents and is a part of a group that has literally killed planets worth of people. That deserves forgiveness versus a little slack with what Luke thought of doing for a fraction of a second? Sorry, but that’s something the franchise has always struggled with. The bad guys with force powers are always having the good guys beg them to stop with their doing in the same luxury would not be afforded to other members of the Empire or First Order. It’s a writing weakness in the series.
