I dont get the feeling hes using Marvel as a generalized word for all Marvel properties, I think He would have said the comic book genre instead or something similar. I think he was alluding to the fact that films like Deadpool and Logan have revitalized the genre in the face of predictable MCU movies that keep the same tone.
