I Spit on Your Grave (2010)
Decent, but obvious. Acting by the lead and a couple of others was surprisingly good. The sheriff was slightly overzealous IMO; usually I would have no problem with that, but this movie was clearly going for a very serious tone, and I don't think it was appropriate. The gore effects were nicely done (bath scene was the peak IMO), there was a frustrating, but very quick use of CGI gore in one scene.
This movie is very, very obvious. It doesn't really change anything major from the original, and there was plenty of room for twists, even an obvious twist would've been satisfying, but there was nothing of the kind. The plot is entirely textbook, you know everything that will unfold from 15-20 minutes in. Shock value is the driving force behind this movie, and whilst that might be very effective for casual viewers, seasoned horror fans have seen it all before.
