I was fascinated by Tibetan art as a kid. And Tibetan mythology is fascinating. Tibetan and some other Buddhist mythologies are partly derived from Hinduism. In many cases they just change the name of the deities. Sometimes, they don't even do that. Like they have got goddess Tara and so have Hindus. But much of Tibetan Buddhist mythology is derived from the pre-Buddhist Bon religion. When atheists here claim Buddhism is an atheistic religion, I can't help but think of Tibet and roll my eyes. |
