Tell that to SW, there's a reason why no SW official fiction ever told stories of the OT cast dying or being replaced by a new Generation. They're always able to succeed again whoever their opponent is and whenever they try to do any future stories they always jump hundreds of years to the future so instead of passing the torch the OT cast are just dead. Total cop-out.
