McCann first got noticed as the institutionalized friend of Alan Arkin in the 1968 film “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter,” but really became popular with a hilarious Right Guard commercial in 1971 with commercial stalwart Bill Fiore. His career launched from there. It is good that we can celebrate his life and work.
