Uniondale is where the Isles used to play before leaving for Brooklyn....which they're leaving again for Belmont in a couple years. Uniondale still has the Coliseum, pro sports' second shittiest venue after the Oakland Coliseum, so all they need to do is come home! How far is Belmont from Uniondale? Didn't they downsize the coliseum after the Islanders left? Supposedly they removed some seating, but not that I could see from the concerts I attended. Even if they did remove some seats, it's a rather immaterial change. I could be totally off as it's tough to really tell in a concert where parts of the arena are totally blocked off and tons of people are standing on the floor anyway. Belmont isn't far from Uniondale at all, a 15 minute drive with no traffic, which there always is. The goal is to have a brand new arena and surrounding area to go with it. I know the team hated playing in Barclays (and everyone hated playing in, and going to, the Coliseum aka The Mausoleum, thank you Steve Somers), but the surrounding area at Barclays is awesome and the arena itself is nice. Hopefully the new complex at Belmont makes everybody happy.
