I don't think any of them noticed that they painted mutants in the X-men movies as gay. And unless they sweep her under the rug because of recent Marvel comics politics, I think America Chavez might be the 1st major gay lead character. DC has it covered on tv with having at least one gay character in each of their CW shows (maybe not on Legends, haven't watched this season). America Chavez is Marvel's first major LGBT lead character. There were some other LGBT characters in Marvel comics before her like Northstar but I don't recall him ever having his own comic book series making America Chavez the first. Batwoman is the first DC LGBT character to have her own series and outside of DC and Marvel there are a lot of others like 'Hack/Slash' (Cassie Hack is Bi and leads towards women more), 'Painkiller Jane', 'Razor', 'Sunstone', 'Strangers In Paradise', 'Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose', 'Witchblade' (Danielle Baptiste), 'Red Sonja', 'Vampirella', 'The Infinite Loop, 'The Ravening', 'Hellina', 'Pandora', Insexts', 'Saga', 'Rat Queens', 'Giant Days', 'Always Human', 'Lumberjanes', 'Bitch Planet' etc that have LGBT lead characters or LGBT characters in significant roles.
I was meaning live action.
