Should kids & family movies have gay characters?

I can easily foresee a world in which theatres will put a label at the entrance everytime a movie includes a gay character, or a crippled one in the years just after, because the world is again starting the two steps back that usualy happen when it advances one step forward. But that will not be a new thing. Not so many years ago there were some stars being glued at some shop doors in Europe, and some people had to wear that same star in their arms, and these people were killed for their thoughts, and for some time part of the world was quite happy that things were going that way. Did we learn something?... Reading some of the upper opinions I'd say we haven't, but maybe because I may be crippled as being crazy, I still have some hope.
