sure there may be a nostalgia filter now, but i fell in love during those years several times, I really liked my school, had a group of great and very fun friends there, and we did stuff that I still laugh about when i think of it. experienced no bullying (if i dont count teachers complaining about me to my parents). it seems like a careless sunny happy era.
wanna go back there

I voted an even mix of good and bad. Yes, the nostalgia filter does play a big aspect in the reminisces though and while I didn't apply myself as best as I should have, overall, I went to a pretty decent high school. It was an era of abusive teachers though that could get on power trips, and corporal punishment for boys was administered quite readily—girls were exempt, so no equality and female bias in their favor here—which I escaped, but got threatened with a couple of times.
It sounds like you were more self-confident and assured than I was though. I don't really wish to relive my teen years again and being a closet gay kid, it did make it a bit more challenging, because while hormones were raging all around, I felt like I was on the outside looking in for the most part. The last couple of years I found the most difficult.
little you know that once an adult always an adult and adulting is not as much fun as one teen might think

PS: and yes I didnt have the extra stress that you may have been facing…
