"The Lark Ascending" has always been special for me, but ever since my mother requested that it be played at her memorial service, I've seldom listened to it, because of my sad associations with it. One of these days, I expect to be able to "dust it off", so to speak, and listen to it with enjoyment again. Note: even before my mother's death, listening to "The Lark" almost invariably made me cry. I have a similar reaction to many of Vaughan Williams' pieces.  (Doesn't mean I don't love them, though-- au contraire!)
