Just when you think Washington can't lose, they lose or at least make things difficult for themselves. Pittsburgh is the opposite and Crosby looks like he really wants 3 Cups in a row. Agreed, Crosby has a fire lit under him. If you go back to the year they won their first of the back to back, the 15-16 Cup run, Crosby didn't put up big numbers at all. Just 19 points in 24 games played with a minus 2. Last Cup run he had 27 points in 24 games with a plus 4. So far this post season he has 15 points in 7 games and a plus 8. On pace to increase from last postseason if they make it to the finals again. I think he knows in the back of his mind realistically he only has a couple more years before the Penguins have to make major changes. Matt Murray is getting payed 3.7 million a year. When he gets a new deal I'm sure that will skyrocket to somewhere over 10 million a year(especially if he wins a 3rd Cup) . That means no more Kessel, and who knows, maybe no more Malkin. |
