I could only pick 5 that I would have rated higher. Those particular Bond titles are all entertaining but are, generally speaking, the least of the series. A rating in the high 6s seems right to me. As someone else mentioned, some are cult classics that the general public might rate low. Two of my picks fall into that category.
This Is Not A Test (1962) 5.5 Tarantula (1955) 6.5
I also chose one of the Marx Brothers films. “Room Service” is an experiment that differed from their usual comedy style and doesn’t really work in spite of some good moments. I picked the other, which is a delight, but misses a 7 rating by just a tenth of a percentage point.
At The Circus (1939) 6.9
The last two are the Hitchcock talkie and what is probably John Wayne’s best late career film – an unusual combo of heist film and western where everything clicks.
Secret Agent (1936) 6.6 The War Wagon (1967) 6.8
An interesting topic for a poll thread. I would welcome future versions with new titles.
