Just got back from my second viewing. I've been debating on what my final rating is. I've thought about giving it a 9, hell even considered 10, but I'm giving it a 9.5. a rating that will probably get me labeled a fanboy, but fuck it! I really loved the film!
Pros:
+ Thanos. He's the heart and soul of the film. He's the one that the story center it's self on. Some may argue that focusing more on him and less on the Avengers and Guardians was a terrible choice because it takes away any more character development from them, but I'm glad they did.
Despite what some fanboys may say, there's nothing wrong with a villain getting top bill.
+ Score/music. Shout out to Alan for the terrific music that set the mood perfectly!
+ Great cast. EVERYONE brings their A game, especially Josh Brolin who surprised me as Thanos.
The interaction between various characters were handled really well. I wouldn't mind Thor staying as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy!
+ The tone. It's funny where it works and warranted and it's Serious when it's needed.
+ Well directed. I honestly wish that the Russo Brothers made The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Joss Whedon, although he did good with the first Avengers film, dropped the ball with part 2. The Russo's knocked it out of the park with Infinity War!
The cons:
- While Thanks is great we didn't get a proper background. There's definitely a chunk of his story that wasn't told. Maybe in Avengers 4?
- bits of the story is missing. Including Xandar and the power stone. This film definitely should have been longer!
