Yeah well in Thor Ragnarok 1. He opened a portal beneath Loki which after he fell through, he closed up.....so why not put a surprise portal beneath Thanos then close it when he's half way through it, cutting his body in half? 2. He created a portal and pushed it forward when sending Thor and Loki to Odin....so why not throw a portal at his arm? There was a scene where they had him completely restrained for about a minute. Why didn't he throw a small portal at him to separate his brain or his head from the rest of his body? Maybe because Doctor Strange was secretly working for Thanos. That would explain why Doctor Strange gave Thanos the time stone and claimed that was "the only way" when it's now been clearly established that there were plenty of other ways to defeat Thanos.
