Still one of my favorites from the oughts decade. The director's extended cut added some interesting bits but it wasn't necessary overall. I didn't like how the soundtrack was changed. The original score is superior, especially the minimalistic sequence during Hector and Achilles fight outside the walls. The Iliad is one of my favorite stories from the ancient world so it was neat seeing it on the screen minus the interference from the gods. I'd still like to see a full blown version of the Iliad including the gods. That would be truly epic. The musical cue for the fight between Achilles and Hector in the director's cut is the opening theme from Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes".
