I don't know about that. Would Ainge have taken Tatum #1? Lakers with Ball at #2? We can only speculate. What I know is Fultz was the consensus #1 by the majority. And he was just what Philly needed - a combo guard to run next to Simmons. Ainge saw something in Fultz's workouts. My question is why didn't Colangelo see this? Not hating on the kid. Reserving judgment until next season - when he gets the summer league/offseason/exhibition games. He comes in looking like this next October? i.e. a deer in the headlights who needs to be pampered and babied and can't hit an outside shot (which is the main reason he was picked) - then I have concerns. He wasn't number one for Boston. If he was, they wouldn't have made the trade. Who's to say somebody else wouldn't have made a trade to #1 to nab Fultz. He was the Sixers guy - there was no guarantee he'd be there at '3' - so they made the move to secure him at #1. Despite everything that happened this year - he was the proper pick at the time. They needed a combo guard who could shoot lights out and penetrate and create his own shot. I would have been content with sticking at #3 at the time and taking a chance on DSJ or Fox - but it is what it is. Was ecstatic with the pick - I don't think anybody could have predicted it would turn out like this. I want to see what this kid looks like next October after he has the offseason to get his head on straight.
