I can relate, in a way. I forced my 69 year old mother to watch the original Star Wars trilogy when I stayed over a few years ago, she never once saw any of them! So much time had passed since these movies had become cultural icons, so it was great fun hearing her comments now.
She sat through The Phantom Menace but refused to watch Attack of the Clones, so she's not seen Revenge of the Sith. She did like The Force Awakens, however.
