He wasn't trying to kill him. Just stop him. He did have Rogue.
And they could have left him in that forest.
The humans created a "cure" that Magneto knew they would weaponize and they did. By truce I mean they decided to table their differences for the sake of Jean. He tells Magneto he doesn't want him there because he knows what he's going to do and he did just that.
No he was mad at Erik because he believes he took Mystique away from him. Then he is manipulated by Erik in the plane and they becomes friends again. Then right after that, Magneto goes against their plans and tries to kill Mystique. Betrayed!
You’re right. I rewatched the scene. Either way they were not allies. How could they? Mags can control the plane they were riding. Yes, but it wasn’t weaponized to be used against every mutants. And it wasn’t for Jean’s sake but because he didn’t want trouble. Magneto and his crew would have and did stomped them. And he crippled and abandoned him. They didn’t become friends on the plane. They simply played a game of chess. Then they would end up fighting him with no pretense of him being on their side.
It actually was weaponized to be used against every mutant. There isn't a "cure" for different type of mutants. And it was for Jean's sake. He knew Magneto was there to take her away to be used as a weapon. An omega level mutant like her? Why else would Magneto be there. And he was right. He took her away to be used against humans. And the funny part is that he was trying to go against Xavier calming her down, but then coddled her the same way when he was leading her out.
That was them going back to where they were before. But that was only one sided. Again, Erik was using him. The Xavier/Erik relationship is that of an abused wife. He beats "her", she's made at him for a bit then takes him back because he says he "loves" her. They continually go back and forth like that all through the movies.
