Geez, we definitely do need an LOL button here. 
I like the original a lot, even if the picture doesn’t really come alive until the Big Fellow smashes through that gate. (I think Everson might have built up the Kong reveal a bit too much, to the extent that it came across as somewhat underwhelming to someone who read his book.) It’s an absolute classic, yes, but I think I actually prefer its sister-feature, The Most Dangerous Game.
The Jackson remake isn’t bad, but the castings are off (Naomi Watts for Fay Wray notwithstanding), and the whole thing seems a bit overblown. Still enjoyable. I haven’t seen the ’76 version or Skull Island.
