I think as you say the stats are a bit out of whack though.
The problem with the stats is that they conflate a few things, like focussing on non-ordained people, or alleged vs. factual.
Pedophilia happens in institutions where grown-ups have power over impressionable children, like schools and religious organizations. When you add a hierarchic theistic worldview, it's no surprise that religions with strong hierarchical authorities attract pedophiles, who know they will have access to impressionable children indoctrinated from their parents.
