Fake News:
PlayStation Says That The PS5 Is Still Three Years Away By Ramon Hara
The Wall Street Journal reported that John Kodera, Sony’s head of PlayStation revealed that the company will take three more years to develop the next generation PlayStation console. “We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future,” said Kodera.
If we look at Sony’s history concerning a console release, it is notable that the company is slowing down its cycle than before. Usually, a PlayStation console will receive its next-generation update 6-7 years after the release of the current system. Now, given that the PlayStation 4 was released back in 2013, we can expect the PlayStation 5 to grace our homes by 2021, which would mean an eight-year gap.
Given that the PS5 is still a long way ahead, it is expected that Sony will be silent for at least a couple more years. In fact, Sony’s CEO Shawn Layden, already confirmed that no hardware announcements will be made during this year’s E3.
