Yes the results are alarming, and yes I 100% agree it's even worse in an institution that claims morality. I think as you say the stats are a bit out of whack though. I agree with that. The problem with the stats is that they conflate a few things, like focussing on non-ordained people, or alleged vs. factual. Pedophilia happens in institutions where grown-ups have power over impressionable children, like schools and religious organizations. When you add a hierarchic theistic worldview, it's no surprise that religions with strong hierarchical authorities attract pedophiles, who know they will have access to impressionable children indoctrinated from their parents. Yeah I would think that statistically speaking the church has a slightly higher rate, 1000% seems a bit much though, I mean if we assume that pedophiles are 1% of the population (which is way high) and they all join the church, that still can't be an increase if that proportion.
