Too many big box office films in too short a time. Infinity Wars then Deadpool 2 and then Solo.
Disney releasing Solo one week after Deadpool 2 was a bad move for both films.
It split ticket sales.

There were several articles written after the summer of 2012 that the Avengers took money away from other movies.

Deadpool 2 fell short this weekend.
Infinity War fell pretty much where expected. Deadpool 2 was expected to make $67 mill for the 4 day weekend but ended around $53 million.
