Triumph Of The Will: But I don't know if I can finish watching it, too disturbing, lol. Triumph of the Will should be paired with the 1943 Goebbels' supervised Munchhausen since the star (Germany's biggest at the time) was not fond of Hitler and there are some criticisms of him and policies in the film (not to mention even a few African people in the cast). In university when we saw TotW we were told Germany was brainwashed--it's interesting that Trump's rallies are compared to it. Coincidentally, I watched THE SEA HAWK 1940 and the story is obviously designed for propaganda purposes--with Spain substituted for Germany and a claim that it wanted to take over the world. The movie ends with Queen Elizabeth 1 promising money for the English war effort against Spain. As I said about Casablanca, the historical impulse with literature in the West is that peace is preferable to war, but Hollywood seemed to have the opposite view.
