In university when we saw TotW we were told Germany was brainwashed--it's interesting that Trump's rallies are compared to it.
Coincidentally, I watched THE SEA HAWK 1940 and the story is obviously designed for propaganda purposes--with Spain substituted for Germany and a claim that it wanted to take over the world. The movie ends with Queen Elizabeth 1 promising money for the English war effort against Spain.
As I said about Casablanca, the historical impulse with literature in the West is that peace is preferable to war, but Hollywood seemed to have the opposite view.
