Montgomery is done for the season, he needs Tommy John surgery. That leaves them with Severino, Carsten Charles, Tanaka, Gray and that kid Domingo German they’ve been using to eat up innings every fifth start.
They will definitely need pitching help sooner rather than later. They’ve got Justus Sheffield, but they’re wary of bringing him up too early. German’s ERA is 5.44, Gray’s is 5.50 and Tanaka’s is 4.79.
It’s somewhat of a miracle they’re winning as many games as they have with such shitty starting pitching, but it’s a lot of wear on the bullpen when most of your starters can’t even sniff the sixth inning.
