And the Orioles still get to cough up $92,000,000 to him until 2022. We talk about the Pujols and Cabrera contracts, but but this could be the biggest disaster of them all. The Orioles are going to have to tear this team down and start over but this albatross will hinder the rebuild. And yet they keep handing out the goods like candy, often just based on one good season. The sooner the owners smash the player's union into a thousand pieces and enforce non-guaranteed contracts the better. Yeah, I'd enjoy 1 - 2 years without baseball, because that's what it would take to break the union. And no one is holding a gun to the owners heads forcing then to sign these contracts. They don't want to have the fans bad mouthing them during the winter on the net and sports radio, so they throw money and years at players. Just so they can have a nice press conference in January and revel in the warm Facebook comments.
