And yet they keep handing out the goods like candy, often just based on one good season. The sooner the owners smash the player's union into a thousand pieces and enforce non-guaranteed contracts the better. Yeah, I'd enjoy 1 - 2 years without baseball, because that's what it would take to break the union. And no one is holding a gun to the owners heads forcing then to sign these contracts. They don't want to have the fans bad mouthing them during the winter on the net and sports radio, so they throw money and years at players. Just so they can have a nice press conference in January and revel in the warm Facebook comments. I know what it would take and it would be worth it to me. I'm sick of these guys getting guaranteed money regardless of performance, and how they always seem to have their best year in their walk year. Funny, that. F them. All of that said, it doesn't seem to concern the owners too much, which makes you wonder exactly how much they're raking in off us poor working stiffs who bankroll all of this.
