But there really aren't just 2 positions of offence/batter and defence/fielder: the third is pitcher. The game has become fundamentally flawed in the last century+ by expecting the pitcher to have 3 jobs and everyone else 2. If pitchers are expected to hit then other positions should be expected to pitch. Shorten the 25 man roster forcing teams to only dress players that can hit, field AND pitch. But they’re athletes, right? It’s not like the Yankees are sending Betty White and Britney Spears out there every fifth day. Part of the problem is that pitchers are babied now to a ridiculous extent. |
