After Jaws IV, I don't know what they could have done to revive it. That movie was brilliant at ruining the franchise.
I am all for a good shark film. I have even read some novels in hopes of one of them capturing the essence of the film Jaws. The novel Jaws comes closest, I guess not surprisingly. I kept wanting to find something, anything, that was like the original film Jaws. The closest film was Jaws 2.
I enjoyed Deep Blue Sea, enough to recommend it. It's an interesting idea and I like the cast. The effects are pretty good, minus some poor CGI sharks.
I don't know what they can do at this point to revive the franchise.
The new MEG film? I will watch it but I'm not exactly enthusiastic. It doesn't have an actor like Scheider or Dreyfuss or Shaw. Or a director like Spielberg. Or a composer like Williams. How can any film possibly compare to Jaws when it had that much extraordinary talent?
