Maybe Caligula didn't have both oars in the water; but religious people shouldn't throw stones. Especially if they worship the God of Abraham; aka the God of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Caligula's personal belief in his own divinity was the result of his own mental narcissism. While all the Roman emperors were considered gods, Caligula took it a step further, & considered him higher than even Jupiter (the king god of the Roman pantheon). Jesus Withdrew from the crowds when they tried to force Him to be their king (Gospel according to St. John chapter 6, verse 15).
Uhm...how is Baptism as bad as Caligula allegedly trying to attack the English Channel??
Atheists have had millions of people murdered under Communist & similar regimes, for continuing to follow Christianity, Judaism, & other religions. Also, non-abrahamic have persecuted non-believers too. So, if you want to say that Christians & Muslims have made Caligula "look like an amateur," then so have atheists, etc. too.
Priests & other Christian clergy that sexually abused children went directly against Christ's Teaching (He Had very Strong Words of condemnation against child molester: "If anyone causes any of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their necks, & drowned in the depths of the sea." - St. Matthew chapter 18, chapter 6).
Again, how is the story of the Prophet Elijah having a contest to prove the Power Of the God of Abraham, over Baal, on par with Caligula trying to disprove a fortune teller? And if you read the Book of Kings, Ahab & Jezebel - the rulers who brought in Baal worship to Israel-were awful people. Eg:Having a farmer executed because he refused to give over his family's vineyard to Ahab, when Ahab coveted it for his own.
Nobody said that Cortez et al, were angels. They were greedy buggers.

God Saved Isaac from being Sacrificed; it was the sinfulness of humanity which led to children being killed. Job's trials came to an end (& for the record, Satan is not God's court jester).

Phludowin, you really have to go out of your way to compare a lunatic such as Caligula to Abraham, especially Christ, & was ultimately pathetic.
