Interesting. I thought season 1 was a bore and I didn't like the first episode of season 2, either. I'll watch a few more episodes and drop it if it doesn't improve. I enjoy the character of Luke Cage and his supporting cast, but the story itself is stale. The villains are generic gangsters and there's no real internal struggle for Luke. For example, Daredevil struggles with the morality of his actions, Jessica Jones struggles with addiction and mental trauma, and Punishers copes with extreme PTSD. Luke believes in himself and what he's doing; the best the writers can come up with is him not wanting to profit off his own name (which is just dumb). And let me just say... I hate Shades. The character sucks, the actor sucks, the name sucks. Shades. He wears sunglasses and his name is Shades. I don't care if he's in the comics, he sucks. He fucking sucks. Well I love Shades and think he is one of the best characters so we can agree to disagree there. I was slightly bored with the first three episodes or so, even though it was very well done, but as the season went on I was hooked. There are so many great characters and the season FAR surpassed season one IMO. I watched a review on youtube that pretty much spoiled everything but made it sound a lot better than what I've seen so far. I'll stick with it and see what happens. |
