I think that if the original heroes die honorable deaths, the people will embrace the next movie and love every bit of it. Comic books always killed the heroes off for good at some point, so this should be expected.
Movies are different, but heroes have died before in the comics.
I don't understand why people think a superhero dying is some kind of impossible and highly offensive act. Someone mentions the word "death" and a whole group of people shit their pants.
