How is Christ Cursing a fig tree the same as caligula inviting his horse to drink wine at the table? It isn't. And I never said it was the same. It's however equally crazy to treat a fig tree and a horse as a responsible entity. Caligula is rightfully considered crazy for it; but Christians worship Jesus. Caligula's personal belief in his own divinity was the result of his own mental narcissism. While all the Roman emperors were considered gods, Caligula took it a step further, & considered him higher than even Jupiter (the king god of the Roman pantheon). Jesus Withdrew from the crowds when they tried to force Him to be their king (Gospel according to St. John chapter 6, verse 15). But do Christians consider Jesus to be God, or at least the son of God? If they do, then they are considering a man to be a god. As did Caligula. Uhm...how is Baptism as bad as Caligula allegedly trying to attack the English Channel?? Bad? Who said anything about baptism being bad? Oh right, you did. I didn't say anything about it being bad. But maybe I should have. All Caligula did was order his soldiers to beat the water of the English channel with swords. But what does Baptism do? This: abcnews.go.com/Health/study-holy-water-harmful-health/story?id=20257722Atheists have had millions of people murdered under Communist & similar regimes, for continuing to follow Christianity, Judaism, & other religions. Also, non-abrahamic have persecuted non-believers too. So, if you want to say that Christians & Muslims have made Caligula "look like an amateur," then so have atheists, etc. too. I never said otherwise. But Caligula was a theist. Priests & other Christian clergy that sexually abused children went directly against Christ's Teaching (He Had very Strong Words of condemnation against child molester: "If anyone causes any of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their necks, & drowned in the depths of the sea." - St. Matthew chapter 18, chapter 6). Yeah right. No true Scotsman was ever spared from being used as an excuse by religious apologists. Again, how is the story of the Prophet Elijah having a contest to prove the Power Of the God of Abraham, over Baal, on par with Caligula trying to disprove a fortune teller? Elijah wanted to prove a bunch of people who claimed to have contact to a supernatural entity wrong. Caligula wanted to prove a fortune teller who claimed to have contact to supernatural entities wrong. Nobody said that Cortez et al, were angels. They were greedy buggers. They were Christians. How is not mentioning goats around Caligula on par with keeping the Lord's Name Holy? How is it not? Goats exist. God's existence is unlikely. Phludowin, you really have to go out of your way to compare a lunatic such as Caligula to Abraham, especially Christ, & was ultimately pathetic. Is this English? My point stands. Nobody said that Jesus Considered the fig tree to be a responsible entity. He Cursed the fig tree in order to Teach His disciples a lesson in faith and the fate of those that are not loyal to God. There is a world of difference between the Lord Jesus & Caligula. All witnesses of Jesus, claimed that He Did EXTRAORDINARY Wonders & Miracles, that Only God Could Do, including Rising from the Dead. Even the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus had recorded Him as Performing "Surprising Deeds." Caligula's only claim to divinity was the fact that he was an emperor (the Roman emperors were worshipped as divine, as were all royal rulers, back in ancient times). Yes, Caligula was a theist. He worshipped HIMSELF. The priests of Baal were brought in from a foreign nation, by a despotic queen (who came from said nation), to impose the worship of her god over the God of the Children of Israel. Elijah was re-asserting the ancestral God of his people over a foreign deity. Nobody said that they were not Christians. Who says that God's Existence is unlikely? You...? Yes, what I said was English, & no, your point does not stand.
