This is what Summer Blockbuster is all about.
The reason I don't care for prolonged franchises such as MCU and Star Wars is because it's a continuous never-ending cycle of the same formula rehashed.
Summer blockbuster used to be creative, pure popcorn flick action and fun. Creative ideas.
Independence Day, Armageddon, Speed, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Jaws, Jurassic Park, etc... you never knew what creative and fun new blockbusters awaited. Some were hits (e.g. Men in Black) and others not so much (e.g. Wild, Wild, West).
Nowadays it's the 20th Comic Book Movie of the summer... who cares? As much as I enjoy superhero movies I too long for the variety that summers past offered. Heck the summer of '91 offered What About Bob?, Thelma & Louise, Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves, Soapdish, and Backdraft to name a few.
