There could be tons of reasons,

- You're inexperienced and nervous

- You're old

- You aren't attracted to the person you're with

- You have some type of inhibiting emotions like guilt related to the situation

- You're tired at the end of the day

Basically something is happening with you physiologically when you are engaged one on one with a person that doesn't happen when you are alone.  You said it's not a problem with really attractive women, which sounds like the women you are with aren't very attractive.  Honestly I wouldn't even be trying in that case, but that's just me.  Maybe have a drink or two before you start to calm your nerves and get you more into it.
