4/10. As bland and forced as the original film felt fresh and creative. The CGI isn't as bad as I thought it looked in the trailers. But there's no life to it. Everything feels like it's weightless and phony while the original, the monsters and robots had weight and mass to them. The robots at least seemed to have more variety this time. Boyega isn't bad and the girl is actually pretty good.
The plot twist that Newt had been brainwashed by the aliens and is now their puppet was bad. Like a last minute change to have this big monster climax.
