Hiring and then firing Lord and Miller probably cost her bosses a hundred million dollars. She's responsible for the first movie in the history of the franchise to lose money. She's ignored or belittled a significant portion of the franchise fan base on the assumption that they'll either pay to see the movies anyway, or it won't matter because doing so will broaden the fanbase so much that those lost won't matter. And it hasn't worked out that way.
In short, she's taken on a big job and stuffed it up. With that level of job performance, would you expect her to keep her job?
He thought no one would notice replacing Howard with Cheadle because they were both black actors.
In September 2015, Perlmutter stopped overseeing the development of Marvel Studios. Disney felt the studio head, Kevin Feige, should report directly to the chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, Alan Horn, so all cinematic properties of Disney, including Pixar and Lucasfilm, were under one management structure. The restructuring was allegedly due to Feige's "frustration" of working with Perlmutter as well as some alleged controversial comments and actions by Perlmutter, such as replacing the casting of Terrence Howard as James Rhodes with Don Cheadle because black people "look the same." A person with knowledge of his creative approach said, "Ike Perlmutter neither discriminates nor cares about diversity, he just cares about what he thinks will make money."
If you dont trust Wikipedia on that, I have the original article bookmarked (Hollywood Reporter I believe).
They moved him over to the TV side.
It was when Inhumans stopped being on the list of movies & became a tv show.
Why were Miller & Lord making the film?
In January 2017, Lord and Miller began directing the then-untitled film Solo: A Star Wars Story, a standalone Star Wars movie based on the Han Solo character. On June 20, 2017 it was reported that they had been fired from the project by Lucasfilm, after over four-and-a-half months of filming, about three-quarters through principal photography. Lucasfilm announced that "creative differences" were the reason, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that Lord and Miller were going off-script and trying to make the film into more of a comedy. They were unwilling to compromise with Lucasfilm and writer Lawrence Kasdan on the direction of the film, preferring their vision
I understand they were going for GotG.
How does THAT fit Star Wars?
Why was Johnson selected for TLJ?
If anything, he might have worked for Solo if he could be kept from deconstructing Solo because we know where he ends up in about 15 yrs.
But then the studios have been doing stuff like that.
Look at Marvel. They have fired lots of directors.
They still have a $17 billion worldwide franchise.
