She and Abrams wanted more time to complete TFA and Iger overruled them. So who is in charge?
They are the ones who wanted Solo to be released in May
They hired her because they wanted someone who would do what they wanted as well as suggesting security since she was from Spielberg's company (she worked for him, not Lucas).
Marvel is a little different. First, it is a decades old brand and the original creators are not involved with the movies. The plan for several movies was written some time ago. It has not had a cinema history--so anything goes. They can change actors-no one cares.
Spiderman?
Also, whatever marketing they do for it, is fundamentally different than Star Wars which has films that go back decades and people have expectations of a certain pattern.
Disney miscalculated because they pushed their SJW agenda so hard (and they did it before they even bought Marvel-see Pirates 4, 2011) but pushing it with Star Wars derailed it. They could not play around with audience expectations, especially since sequel anticipation went back a long time. They assumed they could apply their cookie cutter assembly line film process to Star Wars, but it didnt work. Hiring a Woody Allen fan as director of a space action series was extremely bad decision--but hey-they want people who will do what they want.
He was wrong for TLJ, but he might have worked for Solo considering Brothers Bloom.
But WTF?
Star Wars ran afoul of SJW after the first film, remember?
Lando was added because people bitched there were no blacks.
And SJW?
Excuse me.
Who was the first of the 3 heroes onscreen?
The GIRL?!!!!!
OH NOES!!!
Leia kicked ass.
She was cool.
There was no guiding hand. Kathleen Kennedy was never a creative director for Spielberg-she delegated responsibility.
Iger and company were satisfied with getting their message out there.
How do we even know they are dissatisfied with her? Do we have proof they planned to keep her on for five years or ten?
Seems to me their problem is they aren't creative, they cant appoint someone to fix Star Wars because of the unique story dimensions of the universe (there isn't probably anyone who can fix it).
As we keep saying, the Disney company has so much money, they arent going to go broke is Star Wars doesnt do well. The fact that they keep seeking new brands suggests they dont really care about any one in particular (which is precisely the attitude that led to this situation).

Do you think IX is going to fail?
