I said something critical of the Patriots once and like twelve people hilariously attacked me and accused me of being a fan of either the Jets or the Steelers. You must have said it at the wrong time. If you’d said it following a Patriots loss I’m sure everyone would have concurred with you. Boston fans in particular seem constantly ready to turn on the team at the drop of a hat, no matter how successful they’ve been. I remember this past season when the Pats lost to Carolina and the sky was basically falling in New England over the “worst defense of the Belichick era.” I mean, as the Super Bowl showed, that was probably right but... whatever, they still made it back to the freaking Super Bowl. Hell I can be fairly critical of the Pats at times, but I don't think I was bitching about anything at the time. I think I made a comment about how they needed to make some moves during the offseason because the team wasn't good enough to contend for a title as currently constituted. It seemed very clear that I was a Pats fan pointing out the obvious, yet a bunch of guys got up at arms and asked me who my team was, why was I talking shit about the Patriots, etc. When I told them I was a Pats fan they didn't believe me, they accused me of being a Steelers fan. Why I would lie about it is beyond me. |
