If they’d done what rumors have suggested and had Jar Jar be an undercover Sith Lord...it would probably have redeemed his character tenfold and made him one of the most interesting in the whole franchise. And if it’s true they didn’t follow through because of fan backlash that just shows the lack of balls the creators of these movies have always had.
