That’s what this whole movie felt like. It’s like the makers of this movie said “hmmm let’s give the audience another dumb robot fighting movie”. Well thank you negative reviewers because you basically made Pacific Rim into another Transformers movie. Oh wait you mean you didn’t like the sequel and hated it more than the first one. Well geez what did you want? Notice how I say did. Because of you we will never get a 3rd movie. Pacific Rim is basically what not to do with a possible franchise. Moral of this post:don’t always listen to the negatives. That is the problem with Hollywood "Reaction" films, instead of letting directors tell a story and grow an organic audience, as opposed to trying to please everyone.
Same thing happened to "Man of Steel". Henry Cavill said in an interview this week "Man of Steel 2" would have explained that Superman never wants to kill again, and how much it hurt him to do what he did to Zod. It would have been a more' hope' and 'inspiring' film with Joaquin Phoenix as Lex Luthor. Instead WB listened to a vocal minority of haters, and made it a Batman/Superman crossover sequel. Not what Nolan and Snyder intended.
Same thing happened to "Batman Forever" it was originally going to be Burton's trilogy with Keaton as Batman. However, because Batman Returns was so dark and disgusting, they felt they couldn't make money off of toys and happy meals etc... So they hired Joel Shumacher (spell check) and Keaton quit because Burton wasn't involved, and you got Batman Forever.
