PS: I dont really understand what you mean by 'pounded them' When I whatch those games it just looks like Hull v Middlesbrough or something even worse. There is no pounding going on at all.( that was the main point of my thread and what the rest of the (very same in quality) teams in our group look like compared to the way England play. I didn't watch the German game - but we lost - even though it matters little - I am not going to call that a win for Southgate.. However England played v Lithuania a brand of football(in patches) that is exactly what we need to be playing.(but a lot more of ) and that brand puts us in a completely different class to the other teams in the group. and like I stated Southgate said the right things. Unlike Roy - He is mentally switched on!! We needed to press them even more and get round the back even more. as we had the possession, speed and quality of players to do so. C'mon Runie, it was Lithuania, we should be beating them by a minimum of 2 goals, absolute minimum! I remember when I was a kid and I used to go through my football annuals and look at England's past results, and we used to beat teams like Turkey and Greece 5 or 8-0. Granted those days are gone, but there are new whipping boys in town now, and we should be beating teams like Lithuania by 5 goals at home. And Scotland, I didn't watch the game, was watching some of the NI match, but I was following the BBC live reports and they seemed to be reporting that Scotland were making a lot of chances, which is more than what we managed against Slovenia.
