In my opinion it wasn't that lazy of storytelling. It's as guilty as most films are. The only problem I had with the mishmash of styles was I knew what was a reshoot and what wasn't. Due to one of the problems we agree on. The uncanny valley the cgi falls in. Hind Sight being 20/20 they probably should've went the other way. Go closer to comic book story of Doomsday killing him. Kryptonian Physiology forced his body into a severe coma which couldn't be detected it was so bad. As such his beard would've still grown. They still could use the Mother Box to revive him. So all the reshoots would have him in full beard. You would've still known what were reshoots and what wasn't. But no uncanny valley. And it would've gave the cgi guys less to do. I'm trying to think what they would've used cgi lip and only thing I can think of is the phone video at the beginning.
Justice League at the bare minimum for me got the job done. It wasn't pretty or spectacular. It was just safe and super average. Justice League isn't a hill worth dying on. You want to call incompetent call it that, I'm not going to argue over it.
