ellynmacg Congrats I got to give you credit for 30+ years as nowadays marriages don't seem to last because from what I heard marriage is basically a sacrifice (like both sides have to give/sacrifice for one another as if things go too far toward either side (like if one of the two becomes too selfish) I could see problems arising) where as I think many go into it thinking mainly about themselves etc. p.s. my parents are going on 40 years of marriage this August. Well from a Christian angle... people sleeping together without being married is a sin and it's a serious sin at that. but those who don't believe in God will ignore this important aspect. but I can see why many would think marriage is pointless (especially us guys) because if one is not married one does not have to worry about the other taking half of their stuff if they get a divorce. like it's just a safer bet not to get married. basically... If I did not believe in God, marriage would just seem like a unnecessary risk. Wouldn't a woman have to worry about half her stuff being taken in the event of a divorce also? In most cases i have heard of its the woman who always gets the better deal in a divorce. I know you did not ask me, but i am answering it anyway.
