Nothing. I think people only still do it because it's what you're 'supposed to do' according to society. Same with having children. I don't want kids, so I don't see the point in getting married anyways. I'm also not religious, so the 'spiritual' aspect of marriage has no meaning to me either. Exactly. Well said. Society pressures people into thinking you're supposed to get married, have kids, get a good career, big house, fancy cars etc. They don't realize that you have control over your own destiny and don't have to do that if you don't want to. I think having kids in this day and age is not a good idea at all. The world is too overpopulated as it is. The more people we add, the worse off everyone will become. If life is not so great now, it will likely mean the next generation will have it even worse. Basically people are setting up their children for a hard life. Seems pretty cruel to me. I do think it's fine to have kids if you're very wealthy though, and can 100% guarantee your kids a good life. |
