The Da Vinci Code. Story and plotting good, writing and history atrocious. The movies are fun, though; so was the book, in spite of the writing. But I always spoof stuff that I like.

Fair enough. He's not the best technical prose writer for sure, but his stories are entertaining as hell, and he ALWAYS fools me with his plot twists. I enjoy his books a lot, except for the latest, where he ditched the well-worn formula and the result sucked.

I disagree about the movies; Ron Howard has made them virtually unwatchable for me.
