Yeah, the long term aspect of this deal seems to hurt Raptors. The only way Kawhi will stay at Toronto is if he has a very good year at Warrantor. Sportsmen usually do not want to change their teams when everything is going fine.
But kawhi may not necessarily have a very good season in 2018-19. Remember that he will stick to Toronto if he has a very good season and not just a good or satisfying season. So Raptors have got to wish that things go their way this season or next year they will be far worse off.
I agree with you that from POV of Spurs the deal may turn out to be good.
Is it championship or bust? I think this makes Philly the front runners now in the east. Don't know if it is championship or bust because literally no one will expect GSW to still not easily win this year but it could be win eastern conference or bust situation for Toronto. If they eastern confrence then they retain kawhi or else he runs to Lakers.
