No, he's bloody useless runie. Granted, we were the better team against Germany, but Germany were terrible and I can only remember us creating one decent chance that fell to Alli. And let's not forget we lost that game. And Lithuania, well, I fell asleep at HT but I don't remember seeing too much to get excited about. Good work by Sterling for Defoe's goal, but that is down to individual skill rather than anything Southgate did. And also, we only drew 0-0 against Slovenia under Southgate, and we deserved to lose (albeit away from home)! Scotland beat them and pounded them (apparently), so I don't know how that game makes us look "even better". Well, we're stuck with him now, but excuse me if I don't get carried away with beating Lithuania 2-0 at home! A friendly is hardly a test that provides you with a solid feedback. Germany was awful - albeit they won, and that is what matters - but with a B team; for Löw it was merely an opportunity to offer the second row a chance to recommend themselves for higher tasks. The game against Lithuania was about points, and thus against a team which defended, which tackeld, and which opted for a very defensive strategy. For you the opportunity to develop a game set to overcome such defensive playing teams. It can makes the difference in the group stage of the great tournaments which still have weaker teams which will see their best chance in parking the bus. A monkey could have picked 11 players to beat Lithuania. This is the England manager: For that alone he should be sacked retrospectively. Although it could be worse, we could have picked Stuart Pearce.
