The obvious choice for captain for me would be Lallana. He's experienced, he was a captain at Southampton, and is one of the few who can say they've performed well for England over the last year or more. I don't like the idea of Kane being captain with the extra responsibility and pressure it puts on him, speaking as a Spurs fan. I can see why he'd be touted though. There aren't many England players you can say are and will be first choice in the team over a long period. God no, he's bang average. I don't think it really matters that much who the captain is, if someone is shouty then a captain's armband probably wont change them, and if someone just likes to get on with the job then, again, the armband wont really change them that much. But I do have one stipulation, it should be someone who isn't that likely to be dropped. Now I don't think there is anyone in that squad who fits that bill, no one's place is secure. So failing that it should probably be someone who is established and senior, so it doesn't lead to resentment from the other lads. Joe Hart seems to have grown up a bit since his move to Italy so I'd stick with him for now, I think Southgate has got that one right. Have you not been watching Lallana this season at Liverpool, or for England? He's clearly in good form and is one of the few England players who has been above average and capable of showing some creative flair, even if his finishing is often poor. If the guy who was named POTY for England isn't someone you can rely on to be a regular in the future, as he has been for this past year, then yes truly nobody is, and that includes Joe Hart who has come off the back of a woeful Euros and is having a rather poor season at Torino. Strange you think he's a good choice.
